In this workshop, Elfy will lead lively discussions about finding and formulating ideas for journalism, how to refine an idea, and how to pitch it to editors. Using some ideas of your own (however unformed they might be) the class will focus on making it as captivating as possible, as well as employing the fundamentals of journalism and headline writing to develop it into a rigorous and exciting piece of work.
Elfy is an award-winning journalist, presenter and author working on Gadigal land. She started out her career as a science reporter and has since gone on to write columns, interviews and features for publications like The Guardian, The Age, The Saturday Paper and VICE. You may also know her from her time producing and hosting podcasts such as the Spotify exclusive Australian politics podcast, Left Right Out, alongside co-host Justine Landis-Hanley. Elfy is passionate about sharing knowledge, speaking about climate change, and napping.
